The Mythos and the Pathos

You talk in whispered tones

Hushed voices spread secrets

Telling tall tales of times passed

Mermaids and princesses

And the fall of the goddess

From the mountain high

Spread the word as gospel

A lesson in every legend

A moral in every life

But fantasy is fallible

Dependent upon the dreamer

And made within the memory

But the heroine can not escape

The word which does incase her

And all the feats of strength and glory

Will never overshadow the tale of woe

And held up like a shining example

It pales in the harsh light of day

Writing down for generations of unborn

Leaves out the glow of the storyteller

And without the gloss of embellishment

Personality to the nth degree

All the story is

Is that itself

Up against the test of time
