Breathing

I just want to take a deep breath
And exhale it all away
All the pain, all the sadness
All the drama that's unfolded
I want to breathe it out
Feel it slip out my throat
Past my teeth
Graze my lips
And dissipate in the morning fog

I just want to take a deep breath
And inhale in some courage
Some strength, some fortitude
Something to hold me over
For whatever is coming next
Feel it enter my lungs
Fortify me from inside
Like some invisible armor
For some hidden battle
Where I don't even know
Who I'm fighting anymore.
