Insurmountable

My heart breaks into pieces
Every time I see the image
But I can't turn it off
Because I know you need me to see

I watch you struggle to survive
Clinging to a pole as the water surrounds you
And my face grows wet with tears
Because I just want to give you a raft

You feel lost
Forgotten and forsaken
And I ache with you because I feel I've been there too
But my problems seem so small in comparison

I try to hold you all with hands that are much too small
I try to wrap my arms around you but my arms are far too short
I feel so helpless sitting here
Over a thousand miles away
It seems insurmountable
