Beneath Me

Perception is deception
A liar and a clown
Tells you pretty fables
Makes you think up is really down

I crawled and writhed on the floor
Looking as you sat judgingly on your perch
Never knowing I was stretching on the ceiling
About to burst through to the other side

Your delusion made an optical illusion
Span the room a little faster
Added to my growing confusion
King of manipulations
Lies, and svengali you are the master

Knew all along where I was and where you were too
Confirmed my suspicions and tangled me in your web
Envy and pride are the most dangerous sins of all

As long as I keep spinning you kept winning
Some power for a powerless tool
But eventually my inner ear would catch on
And I'd stop being your fool.

And now the machine is broken and the curtain is pulled
The grand wizard's just a wimpy little boy
When the smoke and mirrors dissolved it became plain for all to see
That you're so very far beneath me.
